I’m not much of a faux-flower fan, I love my flowers and herbs real and smelly on my balcony each spring and summer. I like picking them out and potting them. And that some die while others bloom.
BUT! Having a cutie cat and him wanting to eat living things as soon as they come in, it can get dangerous if you don’t know all there is to know about poisoning plants for cats. Plus, I can’t seem to keep plants alive inside… Maybe my thumb turns green as a chemical reaction to the outdoors (can’t wait for spring to start my spot at the community garden for the 2nd year!).
So maybe the crocheted flowers by Suili (also known as Papercutdiecut, which I already blogged about here) are my safe and perfect solution, cause they are crafty cuuuuute! :)
Recycled Antique Pillow Dress, by stephanieteague.
I decided to start a series on handmade fashion (clothes) called HandFash, since there are so many awesome finds out there!
So this is the first “official” HandFash post, but I would consider there were a lot of others before! :)

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12 has started last week! Yay!
I love it all, but of course my fave part of every show is the panel, where you actually get the see the pictures. I love love love fashion pics :)
This year has a blend of very different girls, as always. After seen only the launch show and the one after (I get to watch it here on Fashion Television only on Sundays! Please don’t spoil it for me!! lol), my top 2 choices would have to be Fo (how gorgeous are her freckles!!) and Natalie (photographs really well I think). I also like Celia and Aminat.
Of course it’s hard to tell with only one shot taken, but it doesn’t matter, I’m bad at predictions anyway! lol
On another note, they are already accepting applications for Cycle 13. I checked out the eligibility sheet as to what they required as curiosity, and turns out I think the future cycle will have a “short” theme! That’s right, they ask that people submitting be 5′7″ or UNDER! Fun stuff :)
Cheers to a season with awesome pictures! ;)
I’ve always loved Polaroids (RIP) when I find some on Flickr or Etsy. Muted corners. Subtle gradients. They are an arbitrary blend of past and present.
And so it was a no brainer that I would fall head over heels in love once I found out about Trampoline’s Polaroid collages!
How GREAT is this concept, just new, gorgeous and fascinating!
I’ve never been a cheerleader (so NOT for me… lol), but I’m always impressed with cheerleading competitions I see on TV. Those girls and guys got it going on!!! Anyway, I’ve always thought the pompoms lacked some style… I know, I know, tradition!
Anyway, I’m totally enjoying PomLove’s shop. And I mean litterally! Looking at the storefront feels ethereal and like entering another world! Even tho made out of paper, they seem so soft and cozy! I’d love a pompom pillow (and you can, because hanging materials are not included)! lol :)
I really REALLY want some!!
Oh, and also check out this half-pompom (below), made out of recycled magazines!
Enchanting Blossom, by TANGLeAndFoLd.
A new stop for vintage has arrived!
It’s called Market Publique and it’s for all the vintage clothes lovers out there!
Sorta like an eBay (in the way of bids) and sorta like an Etsy (in being specialized), you can shop and sell your vintage fashion goodness! GO!
Mixed-media sculpter Elizabeth Symingtonoffers what she calls “Color Flashcards” , which are wall decor hanging pieces.
Maybe it’s the color (or lack there of), or the braille, or the 3D idea popping off a wall, but I just LOVE these!!
Now that’s what I’m talking about! Art with charm. Art with humor. Colorful art, yet it doesn’t scream at you.
Head on over to Charmaine Olivia for all this loveliness! ;)

The lovely Janine from Uppercase Gallery asked me to be part of the new exhibition called s-t-i-t-c-h featuring 10 artists (all ladies, I must add) from all over Canada on the theme of, well, you’ve guessed it, needlework (sewing, embroidery, crochet, knitting). Of course, I had to say yes!!
For the occasion, I decided to whip up 2 new embroidery pieces (you can have a glimpse below)! I should make some for the shop soon, they got quite a warm welcome on My Flickr when I uploaded them last week!
So if you’re lucky and live in the Calgary, Alberta, area (#204, 100 – 7th Ave SW), hop on over there on the evening of March 5!
Who knew acrylic could be so cool?
Scotland based Aubeebop works her metal-smithing skills with, well, acrylic, and not metal! Matte meets color to make a beautiful combos of shapes, holes and inserts. A new fave!
Simple yet detailed, I’m really loving these leather pouches! Perfect for everyday style!
Get them at SakuraUrban between $30 and $70.
